Manual Therapy & Modalities

Mulligan Concept

Designed to reduce pain and improve mobility. Utilizes techniques including natural apophyseal glides (NAGS), sustained natural apophyseal glides (SNAGS) and mobilizations with movement (MWM’s).

The McKenzie Method

Approach to assess and treat spinal and extremity pain that focuses on self-treatment and active involvement by the patient. Most commonly, specific and repeated movements are employed and education regarding postures to avoid. One goal is to centralize the pain.

The Maitland Concept

Manual therapy approach that utilizes osteokinematic (physiological) and arthrokinematic (accessory) passive mobilizations to treat the spine and peripheral joints.

Graston Technique

Intervention utilizing stainless steel instruments with unique treatment edges and angles to treat soft tissue conditions for improving mobility, function and pain.

Dry Needling

Skilled intervention performed using a thin filiform needle, targeting myofascial trigger points to minimize pain and movement impairments.

Cupping

Technique applying cups with a hand pump assist to create a local suction effect to help treat myofascial pain.

Kinesio Taping Method

The Kinesio taping method is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while allowing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion. McConnell taping utilizes high-strength rigid tape to reposition the kneecap for improved positioning to help patellofemoral pain.

Cupping

Treatment utilizing vibration to improve pain, circulation, and stiffness.

The Hypervolt by HyperIce vibrating tool delivers up to 3,200 percussions per minute for targeted myofascial release.

Strength & Neuromuscular Training

Functional Movement Screen

The Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) is a movement based diagnostic system which systematically finds the cause of pain – not just the source – by logically breaking down dysfunctional movement patterns in a structured repeatable assessment. The Functional Movement Screen (FMS) is a pre-participation screening tool designed to identify compensatory movement patterns that are indicative of increased injury risk and inefficient movement that causes reduced performance.

Blood-Flow Restriction Training

According to the American Physical Therapy Association: “BFRT is achieved through the application of external pressure over the extremities. The applied pressure is sufficient to maintain arterial inflow while occluding venous outflow distal to the occlusion site. The goal is to enable patients to make greater strength gains while lifting lighter loads, thereby reducing the overall stress placed on the limb.”

Neuromuscular Re-Education

Training to restore neuromuscular control of movement. Defined as the unconscious trained response of a muscle to a signal regarding dynamic joint stability.

TRX Suspension Training

TRX Suspension training using body weight for strengthening. TRX Rip Trainer – weighted bar with bungee to build explosive core strength and great for rotational athletes.
